Are you currently planning your wedding and want a constantly full dance floor? With these 5 tips, the likelihood of this happening increases many times over!
Many bridal couples are concerned that there won’t be enough dancing at their party. Some are even afraid that no one will dance.
Please don’t worry: with a professional DJ at your wedding, you already have the most important ingredient for a great party!
But even the very best DJ can’t get 100% out of the party if there are factors working against it. Therefore, please pay particular attention to the following points:
DANCE – YOU ARE THE MAGNETS
It’s as simple as it sounds: if you dance, your guests will dance too. It’s your wedding, you are the stars of the evening. Your guests love you and want to be close to you the whole time to enjoy all the beautiful moments together and not miss a single one.
So if you want to toast the wonderful day outside with a glass of champagne after the opening dance, your guests will want to toast with you outside too. The dance floor will therefore not be completely full at the beginning. However, if you go full throttle on the dance floor right after the opening dance, your guests will most likely do the same.
PLACE THE DJ NEAR THE DANCE FLOOR
If the DJ is positioned right next to the dance floor, they can better respond to the mood and the people on the dance floor. The physical proximity also makes it much easier for guests and the DJ to interact: for example, a guest can quickly get to the DJ if they have a spontaneous music request.
Another important point is that many people orient themselves towards the DJ when dancing, often unconsciously: if the DJ raises his arms, you suddenly see lots of hands in the air on the dance floor. If the DJ stands (or, in the worst case, sits) listlessly behind his DJ booth, the dancing tends to be a little more listless.
So the DJ not only sets the tone for the party musically, but can also be a huge party boost visually.
Place the Dance Floor Next to the Bar
During the course of the evening, guests often have to choose between the dance floor and the bar. If you want to grab a drink and the bar is located away from the dance floor, you first have to walk to the bar. Once there, you often end up in conversation with someone. You usually don’t see the dance floor again for over 15 minutes.
If you place the dance floor right next to the bar or the bar right next to the dance floor, you can continue dancing while waiting for your drink. This keeps the dance floor full and the mood up.
BOOK A VENUE WITHOUT VOLUME LIMITS
Some venues have a built-in limiter that restricts the possible volume of the music. These limiters are usually found in venues that only allow the use of their own sound system. The reason for these restrictions is usually not sadistic venue operators, but official regulations and complaints from neighbors.
The volume at which the limiter is set varies from venue to venue. A limit that is too low greatly reduces the chance of a full dance floor and can, of course, completely ruin the party. I recommend that my bridal couples only choose venues where a minimum volume of 90 db(a) is possible.
Please also clarify before booking whether there are any problems with neighbors at the venue – especially if you are celebrating in Germany 😉
KEEP THE DANCE FLOOR SMALL
Many bridal couples overestimate how big the dance floor should be. The result: guests dance in small groups on a dance floor that is too large, and the party seems less energetic.
On a smaller dance floor, guests inevitably move closer together. Celebrating together in a more intimate setting also increases the party atmosphere. The celebration becomes more exuberant. This also entices guests who are reluctant to be in the spotlight onto the dance floor.
Tip to make the dance floor appear smaller: Create spatial boundaries with curtains, furniture, etc. The bar is also perfect for separating spaces.
